RFyre Veritas Carnelian Amulet

Worn by the wealthy statesmen and the upper merchant class, this amulet is status symbol fashioned from gold graced with granular beading. We’ve created two versions (please read the enclosed notecard) to wear when “bump map and shiny” preferences are either on or off so it will always look beautiful, no matter how the Gods effect the lag on SL.
Mars is the planetary ruler of Carnelian as are the Zodiac the signs of Aries, Taurus, Leo, Virgo and Capricorn. Carnelian is said to boost energy, confidence bringing balance and harmony while enhancing passion and desire. Always nice. The Heron as a symbol in Greek and Roman mythology has long been seen as a messenger. Athena sent a heron to Odysseus a sign that she was watching over him. As Heron myths spread it soon became associated with the Phoenix and the power of death and rebirth.

“Raaaaaven!” I yelled when I got to RFyre the other day. “Raaaaven!”
Raven poofed in front of me. “What?!” she hissed in IM. “Why are you yelling on the sim? What is the problem?!”
I was breathless. “I have so many parties for Halloween. What am I going to do? Please don’t make me dress up like a witch or a vampire or a naughty nurse or a devil girl or an Uzbek border guard.”
“A what?” Raven looked at me.
“Nevermind that. The point is, I have been invited to a masked ball at Costa Rica, and I don’t want to go in for the same old costume. I want to be beautiful and elegant and romantic.”
Just then Viscount Menatep tp’d in. “Raven! I am so glad you are here! I am in a bind for Halloween–I don’t want the same old costume. I just got invited to–”
“A masked ball. I know,” Raven smiled. “OK, you two. Listen, I just made a new fabric. It’s absolutely gorgeous.” She took us to her work table and pulled it out. It was sumptuous, rich brocade with teal running through it. Then she pulled out the same with red and then black. She pulled out cascades of velvet and silk laces. Viscount and I looked each other and grinned.
A week later she called me in. “Come see Viscount,” she IM’d excitedly and tp’d me. I rezzed in and saw a magnificent gentleman adorned in brocade with a regal jacket embellished with lace and belted with a sash. I gasped, and Viscount smiled beguilingly at me.
“Wow, Raven, that is awesome but… where’s mine?!” I pouted. Raven rolled her eyes and winked at Viscount. She tossed me a folder.
When I put it on, I gasped. I felt like the beautiful regal woman I wanted to be for Halloween. With its full ballgown skirt underlaid with a tulle lining, its rich brocade and laced up bodice, lace decolletage and collar, the dress was a dream and perfect for the Masquerade Ball and other romantic nights ahead.
Raven donned one last outfit. It was the same brocade top but this was contemporary with a skirted jacket. I could see this outfit would take me from the ball to shopping the next day with a click of prims.
The three of us smiled at each other. We would be the best dressed for Halloween.

Our friend, Aleksandr, stopped in at Raven’s studio the other day to thank her for hosting his family on the sim when they met. He was wearing the Garrett, the suit Raven had made for his special day. With it’s gentlemanly double-breasted regency 19th century style, it was tailored and handsome and suited Aleksandr perfectly. His tailored pants fit him *very* well. Gosh, he was the sexiest vampire I had ever met, and that was saying a lot!
“Raven, this suit you made fits me perfectly. I don’t know how I can ever repay you.” He smiled seductively at Raven. “Have you ever considered immortality?”
Raven laughed. “The life I have now is good enough. Make me immortal, and I will be making clothing eternally.”
“I don’t think that would be the worst thing,” Aleksandr smiled.
Raven blushed and at the sight of blood in her cheeks, Aleksandr seemed to loose his normal cool for a split second. He coughed, “Well, my dear friend, I must be going, but please, feel free to leave our meeting space out for people to see…. I am very proud of my family and certainly, we would like your fans to shop.”
“Thank you, Aleksandr.” We both waved as he disappeared into the darkness, hoping we may one day see him again soon.

An outside observer of Adeline’s life would be amazed that she survived long enough to be embraced. A devotee of the underworld of England’s “magic covens” such as Dashwood’s Hellfire Club, the fact that they were mainly excuses for opium and sex didn’t concern her over much – she sought the rhythm of life wherever she could find it, and wasn’t that particular. When she found herself embraced after a ‘ritual’ involving a good deal of absinthe and Oscar Wilde’s spurned lover, she was the least surprised of anyone. She *expected* to become a creature of the night, after all, so becoming one didn’t faze her a great deal.
Since then she has become a provisional member of the family, with no real strong connections or blood ties, simply because to her life and the family is still the adventure she carelessly entered without any heed to consequences. Eventually she will cause a horrific disaster for many; it remains to be seen if she will notice.

Raised in the Western US, born and bred on a farm, Theo’s introduction to the industrialized big city was quite a shock. Raised a gentleman, always a gentleman, he still has an air of looseness about him, despite the tight rules of Victorianism, from which he hails. His outlook is that of a cowboy, rules about clean living, clean thinking and clean acting like pride in one’s work, courage at times of fear, honesty and integrity.
Therefore, it’s rather ironic how he was turned. He found he could generally keep his prurient interests under control. However, one curious visit to a bordello changed his life—well, made it eternal.
He has always admired Dierdre, the way she walks fluidly through a room, the way she negotiates matters always to her advantage. He would rather be on her side than against her any day. His admiration of her is well known in the family. But he has never gotten quite close enough for her to turn him away—he would rather admire from afar.

Introducing Catalina

On October 3, House of RFyre presents a new kind of fashion show–a living tableau, in which visitors can meet members of the Family while they view the glorious creations of Raven Pennyfeather.
Catalina, diminutive but in no way small, is Luis’ afterlife partner. She appears shy, seems quiet, but still waters run deep, and Catalina’s mind is constantly running, considering, calculating. She has lived among many packed in small quarters; she has learned to read others well. This ability on her part makes her a valued and sometimes unnerving member of the family—she always seems to understand what is going on.
Once the wife of a sea captain, she insisted on traveling with him (very unheard of in those days—a woman on board). But he knew his wife was a capable mate. By hook and crook, she became a worthy sea-farer, and traveled the world with her husband. A new sailor, recently hired, turned her. He disappeared, and the captain watched in horror as his wife died before his eyes. She awoke before being buried.
Because of her ability to “read” her family members, she is allied to them all for different reasons, empathetic to their strengths and weaknesses, motives and needs. However, Luis, her eternal captain, whom she met not long after her rebirth, is her first priority.

Luis, the Pirate

And so we meet Luis.
Luis, tall, aged by the sun, by many years at sea, by many years of long months with no land in sight punctuated by short bursts of invading other boats, fighting, and hauling loot. And then every few months the weeks of debauchery upon docking. The passage into this life occurred on one of those nights of anonymous debauchery in the late 17th century. He couldn’t even say where he had been—a pub, a whorehouse, passed out in an alley. Weathered, that’s how Luis is.
His eyes are soft, however, his heart made tender by his fellow traveler, Catalina. His love for her is as broad as the oceans, as deep as the sea. And he knows well the breadth and depth of the oceans. It is with her he wanders the lands and seas of the world, and it is her allegiances he follows.

Avrele sent me some photos last night and a note. I was surprised–she’s been quiet lately. Turns out she has been busy designing!
The note read:
“This design was inspired by the 17th Century philosopher David HUME (You’ll notice a memorial pic of Hume in the lower right corner of the ad).
‘David Hume (7 May 1711 – 25 August 1776) was a Scottish philosopher, economist, historian and a key figure in the history of Western philosophy and the Scottish Enlightenment. In the twentieth century, Hume has increasingly become a source of inspiration for those in political philosophy and economics as an early and subtle thinker in the liberal tradition, as well as an early innovator in the genre of the essay in his Essays Moral, Political, and Literary.’
I’ve tried to keep as close to the 17th Century style as possible, making it elegant, masculine and sexy.
