Kiki, Renewal No. 6: RP Couture’s Latest Release for Women

As usual I was poking around Raven’s studio. She wasn’t in, but I did notice hanging on the development rack was a gorgeous dress of the most sublime silvery taupe.
Raven coughed behind me, and I jumped. “You found it,” she laughed. I must have looked pretty guilty because she said, “No worries, sweetie. I was about to show it to you. I want to release this next, but I am hung up on a name. You know how we were naming these after ladies dear to us? Well I am not sure who to choose next. Do you have someone in mind?”
I thought about it. “Raven” wouldn’t do, so I thought about my other best friend in SL–Kiki. The silvery dress would look perfect on her. Tall, beautiful, elegant and powerful, Kiki was the embodiment of the kind of lady who would love the dress. A world traveller, Kiki checked in with me from each side of the ocean when she travelled so I knew she was safe (once even from a tunnel on a train!). She sent me photos of the architectural projects she was working on, her apartment in Europe, and her new Manolos. One day we traded photos of our pedicured feet. Her friendship and Raven’s friendship are two of the best things that have come of my Second Life.
Raven agreed the name would work, knowing what a great lady Kiki was. She passed me a box with the dress in it, and I took it back to my sim, where Kiki and many other dear friends live.
Kiki opened the box, noting her name on the dress. “I am not sure what this is, Harper. You know I am very particular.” I laughed because she IS very particular. Her inventory is kept at a lean number. If she doesn’t like it, out it goes. I prayed this would remain.
Kiki threw the folder on herself and gasped. “I LOVE it!” She wore the dress around the sim for days after, showing it to everyone, preening and adjusting. And the dress DID look good on her. It had a beautiful movement to it with the light playing over its folds and creases. A vine motif wrapped around the bodice and the skirt fell down in shimmering folds of satiny fabric with a subtle striped effect. A draped collar anchored the leaf-shaped shoulder pads over the wispy sleeves, and a pair of sheer soft light stockings complimented it. She would IM me daily and tell me where she wore the dress and how much she liked it.
I was so pleased. It meant so much to see my dear friend happy. And it meant even more to connect the two best ladies in my SL–Raven and Kiki–in such a tangible way.
